More Layoffs at EA Due to ‘Hard but Essential Changes’

EA has now confirmed that there have been a substantial number of lay-offs within the company in a post on the company website stating:

“In recent weeks, EA has aligned all elements of its organizational structure behind priorities in new technologies and mobile.  This has led to some difficult decisions to reduce the workforce in some locations.  We are extremely grateful for the contributions made by each of our employees – those that are leaving EA will be missed by their colleagues and friends.”

These are hard but essential changes as we focus on delivering great games and showing players around the world why to spend their time with us.”

These layoffs have reportedly taken effect in almost every part of the company, and a report from Kotaku estimates roughly a 10% cut in the workforce.

This follows more layoffs earlier this month and even more back in February and also follows rumours that the company is shuttering down its EA Partners label, the company’s publishing arm that works with third-party games, such as Left 4 Dead, Portal, Crysis and Rock Band.

I certainly wish the best of luck to all of those effected by these layoffs and hope they find a new home in the industry very soon.
